Deep foundation
Our company provides design and execution of drilled shaft – bored piles, which is the most common type of deep foundation in the Czech Republic.
Drilled shaft distributes the loads from upper structure vertically through a weak, near-surface soil to the rock or strong soil at the depth.
Bored piles as the type of deep foundation provides effective support for superstructures as bridges, skyscrapers, towers etc. and also for the most structures such as production halls and other civil buildings with a variety of subsurface and access conditions. The principal motivation for using bored piles relative to other alternatives of foundation is the issue of economics and time savings.
Advantages of pile foundation:
- reduces differential settlement,
- high load bearing capacity,
- fast construction,
- less earthworks in comparison with shallow foundation.
Our drilling machines are able to execute piles with diameter 620, 750, 900, 1000, 1200 and 1300 mm in the length up to 23 m. Depending on the geology in situ, the steel-casting can be used.
The pile heads can be trimmed as you wish – pile cap for steel or pre-cast columns, reinforcement for upper monolithic construction or plain head for a base mat.
Micropiles are used as substitutes for bored piles in tight spaces and low headroom interiors and they are also a great option for rocky areas. Micropiles are often used to increase bearing capacity of existing foundation structures and for remediations.
Micropiles are small-profile piles (with diameter up to 300 mm), which distribute the axial loads from upper structure vertically through a weak, near-surface soil to the rock or strong soil at the depth. They are fixed in the soil by grouted roots, which transfer the load from the reinforcement to the surrounding soil. The most common reinforcement are thick-walled steel pipes (89/10, 108/12, 108/16) or steel beams (HE120B or HE140B).
Micropiles are designed to introduce compression loads into the ground or to transfer tensile forces. According to the type of loading, the special heads are made and concreted into the abutting shallow foundation.
